Submitted by admin on March 4, 2009 – 9:37 am2 Comments

The following is a NOOBIE MOMENT provided by MMAMIXER.COM. This entry’s purpose is strictly for new fans of MMA (who might not know what it is) to gain a sense of understanding. We at MMAMIXER.COM have purposely left  a few holes in our description so our readers can comment if they wish  and add in anything we left out.

Have fun people!

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is a fighting style derived from molding different aspects of Martial Arts into one complete fighting style.

There are two basic aspects of MMA: Striking Arts and Grappling Arts.

Within those two aspects, the following are the main tools (fighting styles) utilized in modern day MMA:

Striking Arts
1) Boxing
2) Muay Thai

Grappling Arts
1) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
2) Wrestling

A complete Mixed Martial Artist relies on his/her abilities to cohesively mesh all of these tools together in one package and transition from one fighting style to the next.

Other notable fighting styles utilized in MMA are: Judo, Sambo, Full Contact Karate, etc.

HAHA nice! Other things to point out is shoot wrestling, catch wrestling, Judo and Sambo are trained to improve ground control and position, as well as to achieve submission holds, and defened against them.
